One of the consequences of lockdowns was an increase in domestic abuse across the globe. People in abusive relationships no longer felt they could leave when things got bad, knowing leaving is hard enough as it is. The United Nations referred to the rise in domestic violence victims as 'the shadow pandemic' during COVID-19 lockdowns. Now, here we are, three years after the pandemic, and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) says the number of victims remains a concern.
